I recently caught up with a friend over a cup of tea, and we got to talking about outlandish things in pop culture like the MTV Video Music Awards and that Nicki Minaj and Miley Cyrus feud that has produced some funny gifs.
Then, my friend recalled the legendary Manny Pacquiano and Floyd Mayweather fight last May, and asked a question I had been wondering myself. “Why was the Burger King mascot there?”
Obviously, it was an endorsement deal. But the greater meaning behind my friend’s question was what did its presence there do for him as a consumer? How he is more connected to this brand or influenced to partake in this brand because of this?
There are times when brands nail it when it comes to merging pop culture into their initiatives, and end up truly connecting with their audience. Check out my blog post on paceco.com for how I think a few brands got it right.
